MYRTLE BEACH BUSINESS OWNERS ORGANIZED TO SUPPORT TOURISM

Mission Statement:

Whether your business is large or small, whether you own or manage a hotel, restaurant or bar or any retail, service or professional business along the Grand Strand, you depend directly or indirectly on tourism. Business Owners Organized to Support Tourism (BOOST) has been formed to support, promote and maximize tourism for the betterment of our businesses, our employees our neighbors and our community.

We are not in competition with the area’s many fine Chambers of Commerce or any industry-specific association. Because we are a non-profit and independent of the politics and procedures that sometimes hamstring those organizations, we are able to support or defend the business community without reservation. Your membership in BOOST will help to ensure that we can pursue our important objectives – goals that we believe are vital to the social and economic stability and future of the Grand Strand.

• On behalf of residents, businesses and visitors, work to ensure that local government does not violate the letter

 of spirit of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America:

                 “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting

                  the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or

                   the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for

                  a redress of grievances.”*

• Promote/encourage tourism of all kinds by law abiding citizens, including our longstanding motorcycle rallies;

• Work to end the practice of ‘selective tourism,’ whereby government entities and/or organizations welcome

  some individual and group tourists but discourage others.

• Work to inform tourists of local and state laws that may impact their visit to The Grand Strand;

• Work with citizens and local officials to mitigate any negative impact of tourism on permanent residents;

• Plan and execute events designed to attract more tourism, especially during the off- and shoulder-seasons;

• Represent our membership to local government entities and elected officials at every level;

• Provide legal representation for our membership against illegal, unfair or oppressive government actions.

*The Supreme Court of the United States, in case after case, has held that the Constitution’s Due Process clause (14th Amendment) applies the limitations of the 1st Amendment to the states and to local governments.
